Mission Statement
What this is and what it aims to do
This is the first post of the blog Phoenix Politics and as such it is a statement of intent and an introduction of the type of political views you will find here. The current state of national politics in the U.S. is dismal and near non-functioning; it is an embarrassment on a global scale and is approaching the area of a false democracy. In the coming weeks this blog will break down the root causes and reasons that we are in this abysmal state of affairs.
A trio of American mainstays have put our country into a stranglehold of halted democracy: Politicians, Big Business, and News Media. These three have slowly shaped the country, and the world at large, over the last twenty years so drastically that Ronald Reagan today would be called a liberal and Richard Nixon's Watergate scandal a standard practice. Enron executives would be bailed out and given bonuses and the artificial raising of the cost of living is considered good business. Bob Woodward would be considered a traitor and the mainstream media would call for his arrest under charges of treason and the opposing networks would be arguing the merits of a random murder case instead of the Iran-Contra incident.
These three titans of American society have melded into a nothing more than a giant revolving door for figure heads and staffers to keep cycling through. This blog will show you this cycle and will profile individuals throughout all three industries, both good and bad, and present you with facts, unbiased and researched, on all of them so that you may form your own opinion. We will present you with individuals opinions, clearly labeled and never presented as a factual article, and straight laced reports of the events in the world with the facts put first and foremost.
The old system of politics where our leaders and representatives acted on the majority of the countries opinion is gone, as is the time when both sides could compromise and both be happy with getting between the two ideals they held aloft. The corporations with pension plans and executives that cared about their employees more than their bottom line are dead and gone. Finally, our arbiters, our protectors from all the scandal and corruption that politicians and corporations could create, the media. Once they did more than played partisan politics and did more than shoehorn to corporate advertisers, they did more than parrot the administrations talking points and they did more than just mention a corporations newest product; but no more. These three giants of American society have burned the lofty pillars they once stood upon in the pursuit of profits and power and left nothing but ash. This blog will attempt to rise from the ashes.
